 I.                  Past Simple (Indefinite)

Ex.1. Use the correct tense of verb 'to be' (am / is / are or was / were) to fill each space.

1. Maggie is 25 now, but she was about 15 in that photo. 2. Was your mum at home two hours ago? – Yes, she was. 3. There was a big storm last night. Thankfully, the weather is great today. 4. Ex.2. Ask questions to the sentences with verbs was / were.

Ex.6. Read the short paragraph about Charlie. Choose the correct verb.

Yesterday it was a terrible day for Charlie Parker. First, he got up at 8 a.m. and he was late for work because his alarm clock didn’t go off. So he didn't have breakfast and he was very hungry. Second, he couldn't get his car to go because there were some problems with the engine, so he rode to work on his bicycle in the rain. His boss was very angry with him and he didn’t take him for an important business lunch with their foreign partners. So he had lunch alone in the office and he made a spot on his tie. Third, that day Charlie was very busy because he had much work to do, and he could get home only at 8.30 p.m. So his wife went to the cinema with his best friend and Charlie had dinner alone, too! He didn't want to watch TV and he went to bed at 10 p.m.

II. Prepositions of time (in, on, at)
