Ex.16. a) Read these letters from a popular young people’s magazine along with Jo’s replies on the right.

Adults make many mistakes in their life, and then they regret doing that. If your mum forgave your father and you love him, try to support them as if nothing wrong happened in your life. What about neighbours, people always like to gossip and discuss the latest news, especially private life of their neighbours, but later other news comes out to speak about, and they will forget about your father. Just wait for a while.

Dear Amy Jo,

Last year my dad left my mum for another woman. She’s much younger than him, only 20, he’s 52. But after several months she ran off with another man. Now my dad wants to return to our mum. Our neighbours laugh at him; it seems he’ll never live it down. He tries to settle down and be a good husband and father again, but I feel so unhappy for him. What can I do?

Write your replies to these letters as if you are Amy Jo.

Dear Amy Jo,

I get on well with my husband, Mohamed, but he doesn’t like my friends. He walks out in purpose when they come to our house. This creates tension between us. We have a row and fall out due to that. What should I do to save peace in my family and not to lose contact with my friends?

Just one advice!

Try to get together with your friends in a cafe or in your friends’ house if they don’t have such problems with their spouses. You can also invite your friends to your house when your husband is away for a while.
