Dialog

Read and translate the following dialog, where Andrei from Romania is talking about money and possessions. Practice the conversation.

Interviewer:

How many jobs do most workers have in your country?

Andrei:

Usually just one job, although some people can't afford to live on one income, so they take a second job.

Interviewer:

What is the average wage in your country?

Andrei:

About $100 a month.

Interviewer:

Is how much you earn important for your job satisfaction?

Andrei:

Definitely. If you don't earn much, you can't buy things, you can't give presents to those you love, you can't feel as good about yourself as you know you could. And you need your wages to do this. Of course, if you're very passionate about your job, the wage doesn't count that much, if you can see happy faces around you.

Interviewer:

Would you ever lend money or borrow money from someone?

Andrei:

Yes, if I trusted them. And I'd borrow money from those I trusted.

Interviewer:

If you had a lot of money, what would you do or buy?

Andrei:

I would settle all my financial problems – everyone's got their financial problems – and then I'd probably buy lots of gifts, saving, of course, something for the future.

Interviewer:

If you had to leave your home in an emergency, what would you try to take with you?

Andrei:

A few clothes, food, and some memories.
